Celebrating the Accomplishments of 2020 & Looking Ahead | TriCom

Written by TriCom Technical Services | December 14, 2020

This year, we can probably all agree, we’re excited to see 2020 come to a close.

However, despite the many challenges we’ve faced over the course of the year, we still look back on what we’ve been able to accomplish and feel fortunate. We’re privileged to have partners and clients who trust us, and hard-working consultants who remain the backbone of what we do.

In a year that’s been largely dictated by the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve done our best to find the bright side of a difficult situation. We launched our Positive Vibes campaign, highlighting some of the ways our team members were taking advantage of the extra time at home. We surveyed 831 of our consultants – past and present – to find out what appeals to them when job searching and in their roles. Their valuable insight helped produce our What Candidates Really Want ebook, a resource to help our clients hire top talent during this pandemic and beyond.

We were honored to win ClearlyRated’s 2020 Best of Staffing Award for the 8th year in a row and SIA’s Best Staffing Firm for the second consecutive year, and to have made SIA’s Fasting Growing list of US staffing firms, as well as the annual Inc. 5000 list.

Despite being a tumultuous year, we still saw overall growth as a company. While it may not have been the same growth we’d projected at the beginning of 2020, that growth allowed us to still donate our time and money to a few truly worthy organizations. For us, giving back to our community is a large part of why we do what we do.

We are proud to have once again supported KC Cristo Rey High School. Through a work-study program, Cristo Rey works to close the educational gap by ensuring that every child has the chance to succeed – regardless of their zip code. In addition to hosting two Cristo Rey work-study students, we were honored to also donate monetarily.

While the annual golf tournament didn’t happen, we still donated to the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). MOSCA is Kansas City’s only rape crisis center, providing tools and resources for prevention and education, counseling, and advocacy.

Earlier this year, we donated to the Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry, whose mission is to provide school-aged kids who rely on free or reduced-priced lunches during the school year with lunches over their summer break. Our donation provided 250 bags of groceries to families in need.

This holiday season, we are donating both time and money to Harvesters, a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. In a year where so many have lost their jobs and have been displaced due to the pandemic, places like Harvesters are more important than ever.

We’re excited to have launched our Diverse IT Initiative – a program aiming to help build a more diverse and inclusive IT workforce and help shape a better world. Within this program, we spend roughly 14 weeks assessing and training each contractor, place them on a year-long contract, and then support them through mentorship, technical resources, and ongoing training.

Our managing director, Matt Sharples, joined the board of directors at SkilledKC, an organization that partners with the local Kansas City community to advise, train, and open doors for students to a better career path, while prioritizing diverse talent. Many courses can be completed in just five months, so that students can progress quickly and launch their careers faster with little to no tuition costs. Training programs are focused around three core areas, including Software Development, helping them reskill into high demand and growing industries.

We look forward to 2021 with renewed optimism. May you and your loved ones stay healthy and safe throughout this holiday season and beyond.
